Fishermen’s Mission appoints local man as new superintendent

The Fishermen’s Mission in Lerwick has appointed Aubrey Jamieson as the new superintendent following the transfer of Paul Govier back to his old job in Peterhead.

Mr Jamieson, of the North Ness, is a long-standing supporter of the Mission and a spokesman said it was hoped that he would be able to take up the post at the beginning of September.

The mission had advertised locally for the port welfare officer, or superintendent, who was required to be “an active, committed Christian in good standing with a local church”.

Mr Govier had been suspended over his conduct, although that was not related to any financial irregularity or criminal activity.
