Decision on temporary SIC chief executive should be finalised next week

A recommendation on who should temporarily fill the gap left by departed Shetland Islands Council chief executive David Clark should be made next week.

Members of the council’s recruitment sub-committee, chaired by convener Sandy Cluness, met in private at the Sumburgh Hotel on Monday. After the meeting Mr Cluness said interviews with “two to three” candidates were still taking place.

“We would hope to have a report to the council next week, and we would hope to be making an appointment by the end of the month,” Mr Cluness said.

The Shetland Times understands that one of the candidates is current Orkney Islands Council chief executive Alistair Buchan, who was reported be in Shetland on the same day the Sumburgh meeting was taking place.
