Jamieson appointed as new LPA chairman

The new chairman of Lerwick Port Authority is Harry Jamieson. The annual appointment was made on Wednesday at the AGM of the authority’s board.Outgoing chairman Brian Anderson was appointed as deputy chairman – a role swap for the two who have each held their previous posts for four years.

Mr Anderson said: “It is a great privilege to chair the authority and I am pleased with the progress that the port is making and its positive contribution to the local economy. Having previously said I would step down as chairman this year, I nominated Harry to the post.”

Mr Jamieson said: “I am honoured to be appointed as chairman and look forward to leading the board for the forthcoming year. I also aim to continue Brian’s good work for the port to keep pace with Shetland’s needs and our next focus will be on a new white fish market and further offshore decommissioning opportunities. But of course the focus this week is on the Tall Ships and I am sure Lerwick will deliver a great occasion.”
