Police to target drivers on the street

Police will be at Lerwick’s Market Cross every day this week to meet motorists who attempt to drive along Commercial Street between the forbidden hours of 11.30am to 5.30pm.

Today and tomorrow they will be speaking to motorists but on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be handing out fixed penalty tickets for driving through Commercial Street.

It is bloody annoying when you have to flatten yourself against the wall to let cars by, particularly when you have young children with you. All because someone wants to park right outside boots so they don’t have to find a spot at the fort car park. Laziness. Folk with mobility issues exempt of course.
