Consideration for cyclists (Martin Finnigan)

I have recently returned from a glorious long weekend cycling from Sumburgh Head to Hermaness (and back).

My reason for writing is that I would like to thank publicly the drivers of Shetland whose courtesy and consideration for we cyclists throughout our journey was unerring, and at times almost embarrassing.

Never, in a lifetime cycling the length and breadth of Scotland, have my companions and I been treated with such respect by other road users.

I would also like to thank the good folks at the Shetland Bike Project for helping me out with a technical problem on my bike which would otherwise have stopped me in my tracks.

Martin Finnigan
