Detectives probe Burns Lane assault

Police  in Lerwick have cordoned off Burns Lane in the town as officers investigate a serious assault.

A blue forensic tent has been erected near the Clydesdale Bank and an officer is at the scene.

Det Sgt Bryan Ronald said: “In the early hours of Saturday morning, 10th August 2013, a male was assaulted outside the Clydesdale bank, on Burns Walk, Lerwick.

“Police are seeking any information and appeal for witnesses in relation to this incident.”

Anyone who has informatin should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Shetland police chief Angus MacInnes has asked for anybody who may have mobile phone photos or video of the incident to get in touch. No further information has been released.
