Comprehensive win sees rugby team up and running

Shetland Rugby Club got their first season in the RBS Caledonia Division 2 up and running today with a comprehensive victory over Banff.

The squad built on last week’s performance which had pleased coach Neil Scott despite his side going down in a tight game against Moray.

The players certainly built on the foundations laid last week, running home seven tries on their way to a 45-3 victory over the visitors.

Try scorers were Daniel Gray, Mike Skinner (2), Paul Grant (2), Maurice Williamson and Jon Pulley.

Pulley also kicked two conversions and two penalties.

If Scott was pleased with the standard of performance last week he will be delighted to be toasting the first victory of the season tonight.

Full report and match photographs in The Shetland Times on Friday.

The next game will be played on 21st September away to Ross Sutherland.
