Top referee to speak at Shetland football awards night
Former top grade referee Kenny Clark, a lawyer by profession, will be the guest speaker at a sportsmen’s dinner organised by Shetland Football Association tonight.
Clark, 51, who works in Dumbarton, officiated regularly in the Scottish Premier League and was also on the FIFA international list. He retired after the 2007-08 season.
He refereed the Scottish Cup final in 2001, 2003 and 2007 and also took charge of the Scottish League Cup final on three occasions.
Clark officiated in qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2004 and also served as an assistant referee at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
Tonight’s event at the Shetland Hotel in Lerwick will see the presentation of the Shetland senior player-of-the-year and top-goalscorer awards, along with the senior trophies and inter-county medals.
