Where are the subsidies? (J Michael Hannah)

It seems no longer than three months or so ago that Drew Ratter was suggesting that we all should feel guilty that we were being subsidised by the rest of the country for having high oil-produced electricity.

So we should support wind produced power to assuage our guilty feelings. And yet it has now been announced that all-electric homes in Shetland are paying twice as much as those in the south. Who are the guilty ones now?

While I am at it, what about crofting subsidies, the ferry and plane subsidies for islanders and the so-called petrol subsidies? I cannot think of any more  as I am so guilt ridden.

What about some SIC councillor guilt? Aye, that will be the day.
