Seven banned as police target drink drivers

Seven motorists have been banned from driving in the past week, according to Shetland police.

Police said the punishemnts were handed down for various offences including drink driving. The bans have ranged from one to 10 years.

Area commander Eddie Graham said: “Police Scotland is committed to making the roads safer for everyone. We are a small close knit community and through consultation, the residents of Shetland have told us that road safety is one of their main priorities.

“We will continue to target those individuals who put everyone at risk when they take to the roads intoxicated.

“The drivers were reported for a range of offences including drink driving. One driver was convicted of repeat offences and was banned for 10 years.”
