A motorcyclist in his mid-20s is recovering in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after suffering severe injuries in a crash on Saturday afternoon.

The crash between the motor bike and the car occurred on the Voe to Mossbank road at about 2.40pm. Police, ambulance and fire crews from Brae and Lerwick attended.

The motorcyclist, named locally as Craig Thomson, was “conscious and breathing”, according to police, but with severe leg, thigh and arm injuries.

He was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital but later transferred to Aberdeen.

The two occupants of the car did not need hospital treatment.
