Single-point lead after first day of inter-county

Shetland’s junior inter-county team had a one-point lead going into the second day of competition today, following a share of the spoils in yesterday’s action.

The day started badly for the visiting c0ntingent with the netball team being heavily defeated by Orkney, going down 55-26 at the Pickaquoy Centre.

However, the swimmers surged back in fine style, repeating their success of last year at home and winning 62-32 to put Shetland one point ahead overall at 88-87.

The hockey match finished 1-1 which meant the overall lead remained the same after Saturday, Shetland ahead by 93 points to 92.

The athletics action begins this morning from 10.30am with the football match kicking off at 4pm.
