Lifeboat call-outs

The Lerwick lifeboat was called out at 1.07am on Tuesday to assist the 36-foot Norwegian yacht Maxibell with three crew onboard after she reported problems with her engine mountings.

The yacht was 32 miles east south-east of Lerwick, and originally the lifeboat was tasked to stand by. However it was decided to take the yacht in under tow, and the lifeboat and yacht arrived in Lerwick harbour at around 7.30am.

Two minutes after this shout, the Shetland Coastguard tasked the lifeboat to go and check another yacht west of the Bressay lighthouse at Kirkbister, but it turned out the crew needed no assistance.
