The wall surrounding Delting War Memorial at Mossbank was badly damaged during the day on Thursday.
Police said the damage was believed to have occurred between 9am and 3.30pm. Photos show that many of the stones in the wall have been torn out.
If any witnesses can help with the enquiries they are asked to contact the police on 101 and ask for the Lerwick station.
