Weather causes disruption to NorthLink services

The harsh weather has caused disruption to NorthLink’s weekend scheduling.

Tonight’s south-bound sailing of the Hjaltland is due to leave Lerwick at 7pm, but is facing a delay in getting to Aberdeen tomorrow morning of up to two hours.

The northbound Hrossey sailing from Aberdeen to Kirkwall and Lerwick is so far unaffected, with a planned 5pm departure.

However, tonight’s northbound sailing of the Helliar freight vessel, which was due to leave Aberdeen at 6pm, has been cancelled.

Similarly, the Hildasay’s sailing from Lerwick to Kirkwall and Aberdeen has also been called off. She is now scheduled to leave Lerwick for Aberdeen at 6pm on Monday.

The poor forecast has also brought disruption to Pentland firth crossings, with some services between Scrabster and Stromness under review.
