Wind causes ferry disruption

Adverse weather has led to a weekend of delays and cancellations for passengers of the NorthLink ferry service.

Windy conditions on Saturday saw the southbound sailing cancelled, while the northbound sailing only travelled as far as Kirkwall before travelling back to Aberdeen. Freight services were also cancelled.

Passengers on the Sunday evening service from Lerwick can expect heavy delays. NorthLink has said that due to high seas forecast across the Fair Isle Gap the Sunday southbound sailing from Lerwick to Aberdeen is delayed until 3am on Monday.

The ferry is expected to arrive in Aberdeen in the mid-afternoon on Monday.
