Farmer and businessman Brian Anderson was returned as chairman of Lerwick Port Authority for another year at the authority’s annual general meeting.

Retired garage owner Ronnie Gair has also been returned as deputy chairman for the same term.

One of Mr Anderson’s first tasks after the meeting, along with the other board members, was a visit to the authority’s Dales Voe project where the expanded jetty is nearing completion.

Principal contractor BAM Nuttall will complete the quay works before the end of this month and complementary works of reclamation, laydown space and demolition of a redundant building will continue until the autumn by F L Johnston.
