TV show revisits Fair Isle
A Fair Isle resident will be the focus of a popular adventure programme this week after TV crews revisited him five years after his first appearance.
Ben Fogle’s New Lives in the Wild will air this Tuesday, 9th March at 9pm on Channel 5, to catch up with Auld Haa House resident and artist Tommy Hyndman.
The programme first featured My Hyndman, originally from Saratoga Springs, New York, in 2015, when a crew of eight spent 10 days on the isle.
Look out for a full report in this Friday’s Shetland Times.

Thank you for the insight into your home and life. Do you sell your pictures? Saw one in the room Ben was staying in and fell in love with it.

Really enjoyed the documentary thank you for sharing with us your way of life and you’re beautiful home and life on the island, I found it very interesting and very enjoyable which left me with a strong desire to visit the island. I look forward to the time when things get back to normal and we can travel again, because I would really love to spend sometime on that beautiful island and stay in your lovely home.my great passion is taking photographs and trying to learn how to paint beautiful artwork, so I believe this island would be perfect for me. Time out the right race in tune with nature and wildlife. Tommy you are truly blessed may your happiness and life on this island continue for many years to come and I look forward one day to visiting you and your home

I used to live at Dunbeath, Caithness and watching your programme made me so homesick for the wild landscapes, puffins, freedom and lifestyle, even the bracing weather ! You have a wonderful existence, and in a well integrated community, if I was you I would never leave. I’ve been to Orkney, Lewis and Harris, but never to Shetland or Fair Isle, perhaps one day I shall. I liked your paintings of puffins, how much do you charge for them ? I would like one of puffins and primroses as that is how I first saw Dunbeath.

Hi Tommy
Emjoyed your time with Ben this week , you must have a strong constitution to live up there, but think you enjoy it, would love to come up for short holioday, as we go to the Outer Hebridies often which is good for hill walking and looking for the history, I think Fair Isle would give such pleasures also.
Hope to make it soon , hope to meet up.
Regards
John
